Behold! THE SQUATCH 360

Editor's Note: This is a guest post by Michael D. Greene. He has been on the trail of Bigfoot for some 20 years. He has traveled from Bella Coola, BC to the Teslin River, Yukon Territory, to Bluff Creek, CA, to the Olympic Peninsula, WA, to the Adirondack Mountains of NY State, Florida’s Everglades and to the forests of North Carolina, where he now makes his home. He is the author of SASQUATCH FOR SALE.

There several advantages of a thermal imager over night vision devices; you can easily distinguish warm objects (sasquatches) from the clutter of bushes, leaves, trees and the like,  true darkness makes no difference where night vision requires IR illumination to work, and there is good evidence that sasquatches can detect IR, both 850nm and 940nm as well (the human eye cannot detect any red glow from the higher nm IR). The range of  a thermal imager is virtually limitless, heat is heat and jumps right out at you where night vision is comparatively limited and requires the viewer to distinguish an object from its foreground clutter and background as well, an often confusing business.

The SQUATCH 360 was designed to silently, very silently, stand alone, a sentinel which apparently is motionless. In truth the black cylinder at the top is rotating a 3 rpm. Within the cylinder ( a humble coffee can) is a FLIR Pathfinder thermal imager. The Pathfinder is the size of a fist and designed to fit in the front  of high end automobiles, BMW, Cadillac, Aston Martin and the like to provide the driver, via a heads up display  on the lower windshield, with a thermal display of the road ahead and any obstacles obscured by rain, fog, dust or distance beyond the headlights. It uses 12 volts and draws very little current from the lithium –ion battery  nestled next to it, allowing it to run easily overnight. Cut into the side of the coffee can is a hole just large enough for the lens of the Pathfinder to peek through. This hole is covered with a very thin plastic film, and the can is painted the same satin black color so that the hole is not apparent when the device rotates.

A piece of PVC pipe runs down from the can into what is a very well insulated polyurethane cooler . The video OUT wire from the Pathfinder is inside the pipe and emerges inside the cooler to plug into the …………. DVR, which has a 32gb SD card and an external boost provided by a lithium-ion battery. The DVR, battery and the bottom of the pipe sit , securely fastened to a 8 inch plywood disk, which in turn sits on top of the shaft of the  little 3 RPM 12v electric motor. The motor is wrapped in several layers of closed cell foam to muffle its hum and the whole interior of the cooler is also lined with the foam as well. There is a small hole in the lower side of the cooler where the 12v power cord for the motor comes out. I plug it into the cigarette lighter in my Highlander and put the SQUATCH 360 on the roof. In daylight, from a few feet away you cannot hear it run or see the coffee can revolve.

One disadvantage is that when I review the tape in the morning I cannot race through the hours at 8x normal speed, since the image I’m watching is a constantly, albeit slowly, moving scene.
With the addition of a small external 12v battery to power the motor the whole device can easily be carried and placed anywhere to run overnight, rain or shine.

I will be happy to answer any questions readers may have.

  1. The spectral range of a thermal camera is not limitless but typically between 9000 and 14000 nanometers.

    Also. First.

  2. Well its limitless if you dont know the limits! Right? Ignorance of the law seems to work in this country.

  3. Lets just say I want to get revenge on a few people but I'm not the kind of guy who likes physical confrontation.

I appreciate power way more, and am wondering if there is any way to barter or otherwise negotiate a symbiotic deal with a demon, fallen angel, loa, or any other entity which possesses supernatural power.

I don't particularly want to give up full control of my body and who I am but I would very much like to scare the shit out of a couple guys with supernatural overtones.

is there a way to do this?

    1. You have a rotating thermal camera and a stationary DVR and battery... Just how did you plan to pull that one off ? Let the cable wrap up into a nice tight twisty knot ? Or just let it go until it unplugs itself ? Didn't do to well in engineering class, did 'ya......

What evidence? There are exactly the same number of verified Sasquatch images taken in IR as there are in thermal. Zero.

  6. Set the playback to show a frame every 20sec. Then you'll see one area very fast. Then move on to the next area.
